About Aloo dum Recipe

This is a slightly sweet and spiced potato curry.

Aloo dum

Ingredients to make Aloo dum

  • Baby potatoes. 15
  • onions. 2 medium
  • ginger. 1 inch
  • garlic. 3 cloves
  • tomatoes. 2
  • cumin powder. 2 tsp
  • Redchilli powder. 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder. 1/2 tsp
  • sugar. 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala. 1/2 tsp
  • salt. to taste
  • mustard oil. 3 tbsp
  • Red chiili. 1
  • Whole garam masala.
  • bay leaf. 1

How to make Aloo dum

  1. Wash the baby potatoes and boil.
  2. Peel the potatoes and using a fork pierce each of the potatoes.
  3. Grind the onions,ginger,garlic into a fine paste.
  4. Make a paste of tomatoes and keep a side.
  5. Heat a pan along with mustard oil.
  6. Fry the potatoes and keep a side.
  7. Add whole garam masala,bay leaf and fry for 1 sec.
  8. Add onion paste and saute till the onion smell disappears.
  9. Add ginger,garlic paste and saute for 3 min.
  10. Add red chilli powder,turmeric powder, cumin powder, sugar, garam marsala ,salt and mix well.
  11. Add fried potatoes and mix properly and add 1/4 cup of water.
  12. Cover with lid and for 10 min.
