About Thai Mango Sticky Rice(KHAO NIAOW MA MUANG) Recipe

Heavenly the only way to describe the classic Thai dessert (KHAO NIAOW MA MUANG). It's the most famous of all thai desert's.

Thai Mango Sticky Rice(KHAO NIAOW MA MUANG)

Ingredients to make Thai Mango Sticky Rice(KHAO NIAOW MA MUANG)

  • INGREDIENTS FOR coconut STICKY RICE :-
  • Thai sweet rice or glutinous rice 1cup
  • coconut milk 2/3 cup
  • salt. 1/2 tsp
  • suagr 1/2 Cup
  • INGREDIENTS FOR SALTED coconut SAUCE:-
  • coconut milk. 1/2 Cup
  • rice flour 1tsp
  • water. 1Tbsp
  • INGREDIENTS FOR SERVING:-
  • Fried mung beans 2Tbsp
  • Mangoes sweet 2-3No

How to make Thai Mango Sticky Rice(KHAO NIAOW MA MUANG)

  1. STEPS FOR PREPARING SWEET STICKY RICE:-
  2. Wash the rice in water for 5 times or until the water runs clear.
  3. Let soak in water for atleast for 4 hours or overnight.
  4. Drain the rice very well and steam the rice for 25-30 minutes.
  5. While the rice is cooking,in another pan add 2/3 cup of coconut milk,sugar and salt .
  6. Cook,stirring,until the sugar is completely dissolved.Keep the sauce warm.
  7. After 30 minutes when the rice is done , immediately pour the coconut sauce over the rice.
  8. Stir and break up any lumps,then cover with lid/foil and let sit for 20 minutes.
  9. After 20 minutes,stir the rice again with rubber spatula,folding the bottom part up to the top.
  10. Let sit for atleast another 20 minutes or until ready to serve.
  11. STEPS FOR PREPARING SALTED COCONUT SAUCE:-
  12. Dissolve the rice flour in the water until there are no lumps.
  13. Combine the rice flour slurry,1/2Cup coconut milk and slat in a small pan.
  14. Cook over medium heat until the mixture comes to a gentle boil and thickened
  15. STEPS TO ASSEMBLE:-
  16. Serve the rice with sweet mango.
  17. Spoon some salted coconut sauce over the rice and sprinkle with mung beans.

My Tip:

For sticky rice use only thai rice
