Lehsuni mung daal is easy and all time favourite at my place. I learnt this recipie from my mother in law. Healthy to eat and easy to digest,this daal goes very well with steamed rice,khichdi and also with roti as unlike other daal consistency of this daal is suppposed to be kept thicker!

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Yellow mung daal 1 and 1/2 cup
  2. 1 chopped tomato
  3. 1 green chilly
  4. few green coriander leaves
  5. 8-9 garlic cloves
  6. Salt to taste
  7. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  8. 2tsp oil for tempering garlic cloves
  9. 3 cups Water to boil soaked daal


  1. Wash and soak yellow mung daal for 30 minutes in a bowl
  2. Now transfer soaked daal into pressure cooker.
  3. Add salt, turmeric powder,chopped green chillies , chopped tomato and water into it.
  4. Close the lid of the cooker and let it cook till it blows 3 whistles.
  5. After cooker cools down, open the lid and blend it little with the help of hand blender . ( Don't blend it smooth single consistency like other daals).
  6. Now add little required water to make sure your daal has thicker consistency .
  7. Add chopped green coriander leaves .
  8. Now for Tempering :-
  9. Heat 2tsp oil and add finely chopped garlic cloves.
  10. Keep it on gas till the garlic color changes to light brown.
  11. Switch off the gas and add this tempering mixture into daal.
  12. Mix it well and keep it on low flame for 3-4 minutes.
  13. Your Sindhi Lehsuni Mung Daal is ready to serve.
