ABOUT Sooji_besan Halwa Burfi RECIPE

This was the first magical dessert which my mother taught me because she said this is the best traditional divine dessert of any festive occasion ..But she taught me a new version of the halwa which was a sooji besan combo modified in the form of delicious burfi.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Sooji 1/2 cup
  2. Besan 1/2 cup
  3. sugar 1 cup
  4. Desi ghee 4 table spoon
  5. Hot water 4 cups
  6. Cardamom powder 10g
  7. Almonds shredded 10-15
  8. Pistachio 10

Instructions

  1. Keep a wok on the gas on a medium flame and add desi ghee.
  2. Allow the ghee to become warm .
  3. Now add sooji and start roasting it on a medium flame till it becomes light brown by constantly stirring it.
  4. Now add besan and start roasting it by mixing both the ingredients throughly . Go on roasting it till a nutty aroma starts coming ..switch off the gas flame now.
  5. Meanwhile in another pan add 4 cups water .
  6. Also add sugar into it
  7. Allow it to form a solution of one thread consistency on a medium flame ..
  8. Once the sugar is dissolved completely you should switch off the gas flame..
  9. Immediately transfer this sugar solution in the roasted sooji -Besan combo by switching on the gas again on a low flame..
  10. Stir it continuously till the the water gets absorbed by the roasted sooji - besan and the mixture starts leaving the ghee from the sides in the wok .
  11. Add cardamom powder .
  12. Now switch off the gas and transfer the contents on a big thaali or a plate .
  13. Allow the halwa to set for few minutes .
  14. Now we can cut it into pieces of desirable shapes .
  15. My mothers innovative, magical and aromatic sooji-besan halwa recipe is ready .
  16. Garnish with pistachios and Almonds .
  17. You can always surprise your guests by making this burfi version of the halwa .
