Ingredients to make Chena Poda

  • Milk - 2 litre
  • sugar - 20 tsp + 3 tsp
  • jaggery - 2 tsp
  • ghee - 2 tsp
  • semolina/Suji - 2 tsp
  • vinegar as required
  • cardamom powder -1/4 tsp

How to make Chena Poda

  1. Take milk on a pot. Keep it on the gas. Let it boil, when it starts to boil turn off the gas.
  2. Now add vinegar very slowly to the milk to curdle. Then rransfer this curdled milk into a strainer and collect the cheese or paneer, let it be in the strainer for 3 to 4 mins.
  3. Now add 20 tsp of sugar, jaggery, ghee, semolina and cardamom powder to this paneer. Cover and keep it for 15 mins.
  4. After 15 mins mix every thing properly together and make sure no lumps are there.
  5. Prepare a six inch cake tin by applying some ghee and line it with a butter paper. Transfer the paneer mix to this tin and spread it evenly.
  6. Bake this in the microwave at convection mode of 250 degrees centigrade for 40 mins or till it turns golden brown in color. The baking time may vary according to the oven temperature. Hence, keep an eye after 30 mins.
  7. Now prepare a sugar solution by adding 1/4th cup water to 3 tsp sugar, just dissolve the sugar in hot water.
  8. Pour this sugar solution onto the paneer cake as soon as you take it out from the oven. Let it cool completely.
  9. After it completely cools down loosen it's side and flip over a plate. Cut in square shapes and serve. The chena poda is ready.
