Cottage cheese cake or Chhena poda is a desert from Odisha.Its a very delicious baked dessert.I baked this with some spices and it comes out with a lovely colour.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Cottage cheese or chhena 2 cup,crumbled
  2. Sugar 1 cup
  3. Cinnamon powder a pinch
  4. Nutmeg powder 1/2 tsp
  5. Cardamom powder 1 tbsp
  6. Pepper powder 1/2 tsp
  7. Lemon zest 1 tsp
  8. A pinch of salt
  9. Rose water 1 tbsp
  10. Honey 2 tbsp
  11. Milk 2 tbsp
  12. Ghee for grease
  13. Chopped almonds,pistachio,cherry,saffrons and silver leaves for decorate.


  1. Preheat the oven at 180 digree
  2. Bring a bowl,add cottage cheese,sugar,cardamom powder,cinnamon powder,nutmeg powder,pepper powder,lemon zest and salt.Mix well.
  3. Add honey,rose water and milk.
  4. Blend the cottage cheese mixture till it becomes smooth.
  5. Grease a baking mould with ghee.
  6. Pour the mixture into it and spread evenly with a spatula.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 digree for 40 to 50 minutes.
  8. Take out the mould when hot and invert it on a plate to take out.
  9. Garnish with silver leaves,chopped almonds,pistachio,cherry and saffrons.
  10. Serve hot or cold.
