ABOUT Quick Restaurant Style creamy Masoor dal RECIPE

This is a creamy restaurant style whole red lentil dal or full masoor dal recipe. Gets ready very fast and quick. And it is so delicious that your family and guests will think, thay it took you hours in kitchen to prepare it. Its a very tasty Indian party dish. It can be had with Kulchas, Naans, Pulaos and simple jeera rice. I served this dal for lunch with Paneer Stuffed butter Naan. You cam increase rje amount of spice if you like. I did not make it spicy as my kids love it that way.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 1 cup Masoor dal/ Whole red lentil
  2. Salt to taste
  3. 1 teaspoon garam masala or Rajma masala
  4. 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  5. 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  6. 1 teaspoon dhania powder
  7. 2 Tablespoons Oil
  8. 4-5 cloves of garlic, crushed
  9. 1/2 inch piece ginger, crushed
  10. 1 teaspoon jeera / cumin seeds
  11. 2 green chillies chopped
  12. 1 medium sized onion, chopped
  13. 2 teaspoons of butter
  14. 1/8 cup curd, beaten
  15. 1/8 cup fresh cream, beaten
  16. Garnish; sliced onions, green chillies, coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. SOAK WHOLE RED LENTILS FOR 1 HOUR IN NORMAL WATER.
  2. ADD THE LENTILS TO A COOKER AND ADD WATER.
  3. ADD IN SALT, RED CHILLI POWDER, CORIANDER POWDER, TURMERIC, AND RAJMA MASALA OR ANY GARAM MASALA
  4. I USED MDH RAJMA MASALA
  5. STIR LIGHTLY COVER THE LID. SWITCH ON THE FLAME AND COOK TILL 2-3 WHISTLES
  6. LET'S PREPARE TADKA FOR THE DAL. HEAT OIL ADD JEERA, GREEN CHILLIES, CRUSHED GINGER AND GARLIC
  7. ADD ONIONS AND SAUTE EVERYTHING NICELY TILL GOLDEN COLOUR
  8. AFTER 3 WHISTLES, I WAITED TILL THE COOKER COOLED NATURALLY THEN MASHED THE DAL WITH LADEL
  9. ADDED THE DAL TO THE TADKA MIXTURE AND COOKED BY MIXING WELL. ADD WATER IF REQUIRED
  10. ADD A SPOON OF BUTTER AND MIX
  11. NOW ADD CURD AND CREAM MIXTURE. COOK FOR 2 MINUTES. RESTAURANT STYLE MASOOR KI DAL IS READY
