ABOUT CHICKEN FLOWERY DUMPLINGS RECIPE

Zero oil, steamed chicken dumplings coated with rice that look like blooming flowers. These are also known as Rice momos / Chicken Porcupine

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. 500 grams chicken fine mince
  2. 5 spring onions, finely chopped
  3. 1 medium carrot, grated
  4. 1 cup basmati rice, soaked for 30 minutes
  5. 1 tablespoon ginger garlic paste
  6. 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  7. 1 teaspoon black pepper powder
  8. 1 teaspoon garam masala
  9. 1/2 teaspoon salt or as per taste
  10. 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  11. cabbage leaves for steaming

Instructions

  1. INGREDIENTS FOR MAKING CHICKEN FLOWERY DUMPLINGS
  2. IN A BOW TAKE CHICKEN MINCE, TO THIS ADD CHOPPED SPRING ONION & GRATED CARROT
  3. 1 TBSP GINGER GARLIC PASTE
  4. 1 TSP RED CHILLI POWDER
  5. 1 TSP BLACK PEPPER POWDER
  6. 1/2 TSP SALT OR AS PER TASTE
  7. 1 TSP GARAM MASALA POWDER
  8. 1 TSP SOY SAUCE
  9. COMBINE EVERYTHING WELL WITH CLEAN HANDS
  10. NOW TAKE ABOUT 1 TBSP MIXTURE & SHAPE ROUND BALL LIKE
  11. PRESS LIGHLY WITH HANDS FOR A FIRM DUMPLING
  12. OUR CHICKEN DUMPLINGS ARE READY TO BE COATED
  13. ADD 2 CUPS WATER IN A STEAMER & START TO HEAT IT. HERE I AM USING A KADHAI & A SIEVED PLATE
  14. ON ANOTHER PLATE, SPREAD THE SOAKED BASMATI RICE
  15. NOW ROLL THE CHICKEN BALLS IN THE RICE, SO THAT ITS EVENLY COATED
  16. COAT ALL THE BALLS SIMILARLY
  17. OUR FLOWERY DUMPLINGS ARE READY TO BE STEAMED
  18. ONCE THE WATER IN STEAMER STARTS TO HEAT UP, PLACE CABBAGE LEAVES ON THE PLATE
  19. NOW PLACE THE RICE COATED DUMPLINGS ON THE CABBAGE LEAVES
  20. COVER WITH A TIGH FITTING LID & STEAM FOR ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES
  21. THE RICE ON STEAMING BEAUTIFULLY BLOOMS, GIVING THESE DUMPLINGS A FLOWER LIKE LOOK
