ABOUT Fish in Tomato Masala RECIPE

A delicious spicy and tangy Rohu fish masala curry made especially in winters served with freshly cooked plain rice

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Rohu fish 500 gm
  2. Haldi 1/2tsp
  3. Salt 1/2 tsp
  4. For the Gravy
  5. Mustard oil 3/4cup
  6. Methi seeds 1tsp
  7. Onion paste 3 big
  8. Garlic paste 1tso
  9. Haldi powder 1tsp
  10. Gas chilli powder 2tsp
  11. Coriander powder 2tsp
  12. Jeera powder 1tsp
  13. Garam masala powder 1tsp
  14. Tomato puree 3
  15. Lemon juice 2tbsp
  16. Coriander leaves chopped 2tbsp for garnishing

Instructions

  1. TAKE 500 KG CLEANED RIVER FISH PIECES, ADD 1/2 TSP SALT, 1 TSP TURMERIC POWDER
  2. MIX & SET ASIDE TO MARINATE FOR 15 MINS
  3. HEAT 3/4 CUP MUSTARD OIL, DEEP FRY THE FISH PIECES
  4. FLIP & FRY FROM BOTH SIDES
  5. TAKE OFF HEAT WHEN GOLDEN BROWN & CRISP, SET ASIDE
  6. IN THE LEFTOVER OIL, ADD 1 TSP FENUGREEK SEEDS, ADD 1 CUP ONION PASTE, SAUTE
  7. ADD 1 TSP TURMERIC, 2 TSP CORIANDER POWDER
  8. ADD 2 TSP RED CHILLI POWDER
  9. ADD 1 CUP FRESH TOMATO PUREE, SAUTE
  10. ADD 1 TSP GARLIC PASTE, COOK TILL THE MASALA LEAVES OIL
  11. ADD 1 CUP WATER
  12. ADD SALT, 1 TSP GARAM MASALA POWDER, 1 PEELED & CUBED POTATO
  13. COOK ON LOW HEAT TILL THE POTATOES ARE ALMOST DONE
  14. ADD THE FRIED FISH, SIMMER FOR 3-4 MINS
  15. ADD 2 TBSP LEMON JUICE, MIX & SERVE HOT WITH RICE
