A scrumptious dessert of Oman from the Middle East. It adorns the dining tables in many a feasts and is absolutely a show stopper from the country. This Omani halwa is very easy to make and requires just a few ingredients, as little as only 4 of them. It is a rich aromatic dessert that looks as a caramel and is considered a symbol of Omani hospitality and traditionally served with Omani Kahwa. Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. butter 1/4th cup
  2. Condensed milk 2 cans (395 gm)
  3. cardamom powder 1/2 tsp
  4. Mixed chopped nuts 1/4th cup

Instructions

  1. GET ALL THE INGREDIENTS READY.
  2. TO A PAN, ADD BUTTER AT FIRST.
  3. FOLLOWED BY 2 CANS OF CONDENSED MILK
  4. GREASE A DISH AND SET ASIDE
  5. KEEP STIRRING THE CONDENSED MILK AND BUTTER MIX CONTINUOUSLY FOR ABOUT 25-30 MINUTES ON A LOW HEAT
  6. AFTER IT THICKENS A BIT, ADD THE CARDAMOM POWDER.
  7. KEEP STIRRING IT UNTIL IT CHANGES IT'S COLOUR AND THICKENS.
  8. WHEN IT COMES TOGETHER AS A SOLID MASS AND LEAVES THE SIDES OF THE PAN
  9. REMOVE IT FROM THE FIRE AND POUR INTO THE GREASED DISH
  10. GARNISH WITH SOME CHOPPED MIXED NUTS.
  11. LET IT COOL DOWN IN THE REFRIGERATOR BEFORE CUTTING INTO DESIRED SHAPES
