ABOUT Chana Masala RECIPE

Semi dry chickpeas curry served in main course with roti and rice.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. chickpeas 1 cup
  2. salt 1+1/2 tesp
  3. Clarified butter 2 tbsp
  4. cumin Seeds 1 tesp
  5. Carrom seeds 1/2 tesp
  6. Green chilies 3
  7. onions 3
  8. ginger paste 1 tesp
  9. tomatoes 3
  10. Red chilli powder 1/2 tesp
  11. coriander powder 1 tesp
  12. Garam masala 1*2 tesp
  13. asafoetida 1/2 tesp
  14. Raw mango powder 1/2 tesp
  15. pomegranate seeds 1/2 tesp
  16. Kasoori methi 1 tesp
  17. Green coriander leaves 1 tbsp
  18. lemon juice 1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. SOAK 1 CUP OF CHICKPEAS IN 3 CUPS OF WATER OVER NIGHT.
  2. WASH SOAKED CHICKPEAS.
  3. PRESSURE COOK SOAKED CHICKPEAS WITH 3 CUPS OF WATER AND 1 TESP SALT.( 1 CUP = 250 ML)
  4. GIVE A WHISTLE AND THEN SIMMER FOR 20 MINUTES.
  5. IN 2 TBSP CLARIFIED BUTTER SPLUTTER 1 TESP CUMIN SEEDS AND 1/2 TESP CARROM SEEDS.
  6. ADD SLICED GREEN CHILIES AND SAUTE.
  7. ADD 2 SLICED ONIONS. SAUTE.
  8. WHEN ONIONS ARE GOLDEN BROWN ADD 3 CHOPPED TOMATOES. SAUTE.
  9. IN 2 TBSP WATER DISSOLVE 3/4 TESP RED CHILLI POWDER, 1 TESP CORIANDER POWDER, 1/2 TESP GARAM MASALA.
  10. 1/2 TESP RAW MANGO POWDER, 1/2 TESP CRUSHED POMEGRANATE SEEDS.
  11. 1/2 TESP ASAFOETIDA, 1 TESP GINGER PASTE. MIX.
  12. WHEN TOMATOES ARE DONE,RELEASED OIL ADD DISSOLVED SPICES.
  13. SAUTE FOR A MINUTE.
  14. ADD 1 TESP KASOORI METHI.
  15. ADD BOILED CHICKPEAS.
  16. GIVE A BOIL AND THEN COOK COVERED ON SIM FOR 10 MINUTES.
  17. WATER IS ALMOST DRIED.SWITCH THE FLAME OFF.
  18. ADD 1 FINELY CHOPPED ONION, GREEN CORIANDER LEAVES. SQUEEZE JUICE OF HALF LEMON.
  19. MIX.
