ABOUT Veldt grape / Pirandai Thuvaiyal (Superfood) RECIPE

Pirandai is rich in vitamin C and E. I read somewhere that it is medicine for 300 odd diseases. It is used in ayurveda. It is itchy in nature so we need to apply sesame oil while cleaning or chopping them. Use tender veldt grapes for cooking. You need to have with curd rice for best results. It should be used moderately. 1 tbsp per serving.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Veldt grapes 1 cup
  2. Urad dal 2 tbsp
  3. Channa dal 1 tbsp
  4. Hing
  5. 1 cup coconut
  6. Tamarind small piece
  7. 6 Red chillies
  8. Salt
  9. For Seasoning
  10. Sesame oil
  11. Mustard
  12. Urad dal
  13. Curry leaves

Instructions

  1. APPLY SESAME OIL IN YOUR HAND BEFORE HANDLING TENDER VELDT GRAPE
  2. REMOVE INTERNODES
  3. REMOVE SHARP EDGES
  4. CHOP THEM
  5. TAKE 2 TBSP URAD, 1 TBSP CHANNA, 1 CUP COCONUT, 1 CUP VELDT GRAPE, HING, 6 RED CHILLIES AND TAMARIND
  6. ADD LITTLE OIL IN KADAI. ROAST URAD DAL AND CHANNA DAL. ADD HING
  7. SAUTE 1 CUP COCONUT AND 6 RED CHILLIES. KEEP ASIDE
  8. ADD 1 CUP VELDT GRAPE. SAUTE
  9. SAUTE TILL THEY ARE COOKED. COOL THE INGREDIENTS
  10. ADD THEM TO BLENDER. ADD SALT AS PER YOUR TASTE
  11. ADD SEASONING MADE WITH SESAME OIL, MUSTARD, URAD DAL AND CURRY LEAVES
