About Banana Peri Peri Recipe

It is South Indian dish and is prepared from green raw bananas. What to do with green bananas in large quantity. My father used to get them from way to our farms. Though raw bananas are much more nutritious and fibrous as compared to the yellow ones. But when you have in large quantity you seek for variety. And this recipe comes as a saviour.

Banana Peri Peri

Ingredients to make Banana Peri Peri

  • 2 raw bananas
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp chana dal
  • 1 whole dry red chilly, broken into pieces
  • 12 curry leaves
  • 1/4 tsp asafoetida
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp grated coconut
  • Chopped coriander to garnish

How to make Banana Peri Peri

  1. Peel the Bananas and cut into cubes. In a pan , add the bananas, 1/4 cup water, turmeric powder and salt and allow it cook till bananas are tende and the water dries up. Keep aside.
  2. In another pan heat oil and add mustard seeds, asafoetida, chana dal and roast.
  3. Add dry red chillies,curry leaves and cooked bananas . Add grated coconut to it.
  4. Toss well and cook for 4 - 5 minutes.
  5. When done garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot with chapatis or bread of your choice.

My Tip:

The raw bananas can be made fried or boiled and spicy too.
