About Vegan Semiya Payasam Recipe

My daughter loves the lactose free version of Semiya payasam. Very quick to prepare and the flavour of coconut enriches the taste of this dessert.

Vegan Semiya Payasam

Ingredients to make Vegan Semiya Payasam

  • Vermicelli (roasted) – ½ cup
  • coconut slices – ½ cup
  • Soaked & peeled almonds – 5
  • sugar – 1 cup
  • cardamom – 2
  • water – 1 ½ cup

How to make Vegan Semiya Payasam

  1. Take a heavy bottomed pan. Add roasted vermicelli and pour measured quantity of water to it.
  2. Allow it to boil for 4 to 5 minutes.
  3. In the meantime take the coconut slices (by removing the dark portion), soaked, peeled almonds, cardamom into a clean, dry mixie jar.
  4. Grind the above ingredients to get a paste like consistency by adding little amount of water.
  5. Transfer the above paste to the boiling vermicelli, continue boiling for 3 more minutes.
  6. Add sugar and stir the mix.
  7. Serve warm or cold by garnishing with dryfruits..
