Spicy Onion Uttapam

Ingredients to make Spicy Onion Uttapam

  • For the Uttapam batter:
  • 1 cup of rice (soaked overnight )
  • 1/2 cup of urad dal (soaked overnight )
  • 1 tsp of methi dana
  • salt as per taste
  • 1/4 cup of finely chopped onion
  • green chillies chopped as per taste
  • Chopped coriander 1/2 bunch
  • red chilli Powder 1/2 tsp
  • oil to cook

How to make Spicy Onion Uttapam

  1. Soak overnight 1 cup of rice and 1/2 cup of urad dal. Drain and grind to a fine paste with 1 tsp of methi dana. Let it ferment for 4 to 5 hours.
  2. In a non stick pan pour a ladle of the fermented batter and spread it a little.
  3. Now sprinkle evenly, all the chopped vegetables and spices as per taste.
  4. Put a little oil on the sides.
  5. Once it turns golden from the bottom flip it over and cook from the other side till golden.
  6. Serve hot with chutney.
