ABOUT coconut kofta curry RECIPE

Kofta Curry is a delicious dish that is a specialty of Northern India. These fried coconut koftas can even be served as an appetizer for parties.These coconut balls can be fried or baked or pan fried before adding it to the gravy. The taste of these koftas completely different from other koftas.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. coconut (grated ) - 1 cup
  2. Shahi jeera - 1/2 tea spoon
  3. onions - 1
  4. salt - to taste
  5. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tea spoon
  6. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tea spoon
  7. tomato puree - 1/2 cup
  8. coriander powder - 1 tea spoon
  9. chilli powder - 1 tablespoons
  10. coconut powder - 1 tea spoon
  11. besan - 2 tablespoons, Oil for deep fry - as required
  12. Coconut milk - 1/4 cup, coriander leaves - 1/2 bunch, kasuri methi


  1. For making gravy heat oil in a pan add shahi jeera, chopped onions, salt saute it till the onions are slightly brown color.
  2. Add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, cook it till raw flavor is gone. Add tomato puree, chilli powder, coriander powder, coconut powder let it cook for 5 minutes with the lid on.
  3. In a mixing bowl add grated coconut, chilli powder, salt, coriander powder, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder for binding add besan. Mix it well and make it into a koftas.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the koftas till it get brown color. Add 1/2 glass of water to gravy and boil it for 2 minutes then add coconut milk.
  5. Then add fried koftas and boil for a few more minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves or kasuri methi and Serve this with Rice, roti or chapati.
