This is a very popular,traditional & tipical bengali dish.It's a very easy recipe. Hilsa fish become available in rainy season.There are many outher popular preparation of this fish.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Ilish Mach/ Hilsa fish 7 pcs
  2. shredded coconut 1 cup
  3. black mustard seed 1 tablespoon
  4. yellow mustard seeds half tablespoon
  5. Curd 2 tablespoon
  6. splitted green chilli 8 pieces
  7. turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
  8. poppy seeds 1 tablespoon
  9. salt as per taste
  10. mustard oil 4 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. The hilsa fish should be watched clean then put 140 spoons of salt and 140 schools of turmeric powder and marinette it for 10 minutes
  2. Soak poppy seeds in little warm water for 10 minutes. then drain out the water. Blend together poppy seeds, mustard seeds, green chillies coconut and some little salt to make a fine paste using little water.
  3. Take a container at 2 tbsp curd,1 teaspoon turmeric powder,2 tbsp mustard oil and coconut - mustard seed past mix all the ingredients very well with hilsa fish. keep it aside for 15 minutes.
  4. Add 2 tbsp mustard oil, splitted green chilli, salt (as per taste) and add cover the container with a clean plastic wrap. Then make some small hole with a sharp fork.
  5. Place the container in microwave oven then cook it for 8 to 10 minutes at medium temperature (540 w)
  6. After 10 minutes steam pressure is ready
  7. Searved it hot with plain steam rice.
