Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Beetroot 1 large
  2. Lemon 1
  3. For the Masala Paste :
  4. Pepper 1/2 tsp
  5. Cumin 1 tsp
  6. Dhania 1 tbsp
  7. Red chillies 4
  8. Garlic cloves 4
  9. Coriander 2 tbsp
  10. few curry leaves
  11. For the tadka:
  12. Oil 1 tsp
  13. Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  14. Cumin 1/2 tsp
  15. Broken red chilli 2
  16. Asfotedia /hing a pinch
  17. few curry leaves
  18. Coriander to Garnish
  19. Salt

Instructions

  1. Wash, peel and Chop beetroot to small peices. Pressure cook for 3 whistles with 5 cups water.
  2. Make coarse paste of ingredeints mentioned without adding any water.
  3. Open cooker after cooled, now add the ground paste, salt simmer covered for 10 to 12 minutes
  4. Now for tadka heat oil in a small pan, add mustard, cumin, red chillies and asfotedia. Stir for 10 to 15 seconds and add to the beetroot rasam
  5. Garnish with chopped coriander and curry leaves
  6. Serve hot with steamed rice and papad.
