Made with rava, loaded with veggies this is a delicious, healthy snack or breakfast

Veg upma

Ingredients to make Veg upma

  • sooji/rava 1 cup
  • Beans, carrots, peas 1 cup
  • Black mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • curry leaves 20
  • salt to taste
  • onion chopped, 1
  • ghee 1 tbsp
  • water 3 Cups

How to make Veg upma

  1. Heat ghee
  2. Add mustard seeds;when they splutter add the curry leaves and after 30 seconds add the chopped onion
  3. Once the onions start turning pink add salt and the rest of the veggies
  4. Cover and cook for 3-4 mins (you can vary the time depending on how you like the veggies. I like them to be a Lil crunchy
  5. Add rava. Stir and cook for a minute
  6. Now slowly add water, stirring the mix all the while. A good rava:water ratio is 1:3 however go by look and feel and ensure the consistency is pasty as the upma thickens even after it is off the flame
  7. Serve with pickle. Kids love it with ketchup!!!
