We usually soak and grind rice and urad dal to make fluffy idlies but instantly if we want to make idlies we can do so by this method. It turned out equally good.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Rice flour 2 cup
  2. Urad dal flour 1 cup
  3. Rava 2 tablespoons
  4. Curd 1 cup
  5. Salt 1 teaspoon
  6. Water as required
  7. Gingelly oil few drops to grease idli plates


  1. Mix all the ingredients given except oil to form a thick idli batter consistency
  2. Urad dal flour is nothing but grinding the white urad dal into a fine powder . We get readymade urad dal flour too.
  3. Allow it to rest for fifteen minutes
  4. Grease idly plates with little oil and pour the batter into it. Steam it for about ten minutes
  5. Instant rice urad dal idly is ready to serve
