ABOUT Tomato Kadhi RECIPE

Kadhi is one of the most favourite dishes in every home. This tomato kadhi is my mum' s recipe and is an all time hit. It is such a comfort food which requires very few ingredients and when teamed up with hot steamed ghee rice, it is so fulfilling.Tomato kadhi is easy to make with few ingredients and in less time and a perfect lunch recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Besan 4 tablespoon
  2. Tomato 2 big sized
  3. Green chilli 1
  4. fresh curry leaves 10- 12
  5. Mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  6. Cumin seeds 1/4 teaspoon
  7. Dried red chilli 2
  8. asfoetida( heeng) 1/4 teaspoon
  9. Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
  10. Garam masala 1 teaspoon
  11. kashmiri mirch powder 1/ 2 teaspoon
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Oil for frying and tempering
  14. Chopped coriander for garnishing

Instructions

  1. take besan in a bowl and start adding the water little by little till a flowy consistency is achieved. we want it to be runny ghol mixture.
  2. In a hot kadhai pour some oil, when hot add 4- 5 curry leaves, green chillies and chopped tomatoes.
  3. add in turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala and salt.
  4. sprinkle some water to avoid burning of masala.
  5. cook the masala till tomatoes are properly cooked and masala leaves the oil.
  6. add the besan ghol into this and continuously stir as you add the ghol to avoid lump formation.
  7. add more water if required as we want it to be runny initially. keep stirring continuously otherwise lumps will form.
  8. Boil for about 10-12 minutes stirring in between so that the besan is cooked properly and it is little thick in consistency.
  9. For tempering-
  10. in a tadka pan add some oil, when hot add in heeng, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dried red chillies, fresh curry leaves and let crackle.
  11. pour this tadka onto the kadhi and add chopped coriander leaves.
  12. Your tomato kadhi is ready. serve it with hot steamed rice and some raw onion salad and enjoyy..
