ABOUT Foxtail Millet Soup RECIPE

Every 100 gm of foxtail millet has 12.3gm of protein content in it. Not only protein, but millets overall are rich in minerals and iron too. Here’s a healthy heart warming soup perfect for a light dinner

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 150 grams chopped mixed veggies like carrots, broccoli,spinach,French beans etc
  2. 2 tablespoon heaped foxtail millet
  3. 1 tablespoon olive oil
  4. Salt to season
  5. 1 teaspoon all spice powder
  6. crushed black pepper to season
  7. 3-4 garlic cloves finely chopped
  8. 1 tablespoon oregano powder
  9. 2.5 cups water


  1. Rinse and cook the millet with half a cup of water in a Saucepan covered
  2. Boil the veggies or pressure cook upto one whistles until cooked(not completely tender)
  3. In a wok heat oil and add garlic and sauté for a few seconds
  4. Add the boiled veggies,salt,condiments and mix well
  5. Finally add the cooked millet (along with the water used to cook)and combine well
  6. Add more water if necessary and cook covered for 5-7 minutes
  7. Serve hot with some high fibre multigrain bread
