ABOUT Lachha paratha RECIPE

Lachha paratha is a popular North Indian flat-bread. In North India, Lachha paratha is also known as Punjabi bread.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 cup wheat flour / atta
  2. ¾ tbsp salt
  3. 6 to 8 tbsp oil
  4. 1/2; cup warm milk
  5. Water as required, to knead
  6. 1 tsp sugar
  7. 1/4 tbsp Baking soda


  1. firstly, in a large mixing bowl, take wheat flour, add salt, sugar, baking soda and 2 tbsp of oil.
  2. crumble well with your hands. Add milk and mix it. Add water as required and knead to smooth and soft dough.
  3. cover with moist cloth and rest for 30 minutes.
  4. Take a lemon sized ball dough, roll and flatten it. also dust with some wheat flour.
  5. Roll it into a thin oval shape. Brush with ghee and sprinkle with some dry flour. Now, cut the rolled Chapati into thin strips using a knife or a pizza cutter.
  6. Take all strips together and fold it into a thin log. Brush with some more ghee and sprinkle with some more dry flour.
  7. Roll it over again from one end to the other end to form a spiral. Now dip it into dry flour roll into a thin circle again.
  8. take chapathi tawa and place the rolled paratha. After a minuter flip off and cook the other side.
  9. once the golden brown spots start appearing on both sides grease with oil.
  10. Flip and roast both sides. then crush the paratha to form layers.
  11. Finally, serve lacha paratha immediately with curry of your choice.
