Pomfret is a delicious fish which when fried with very few masalas tastes divine. I would like to ask all my fish lover friends to do try this dish as it is easy and very tasty.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. One white Pomfret fish
  2. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  3. 1 tsp Salt
  4. Coriander seeds 1tsp
  5. Suji 1/2 cup
  6. Rice flour 1/2 cup
  7. 6 cloves
  8. 4 peppercorns
  9. 1 Dry red chilli
  10. Vinegar 2 tsp
  11. 2 pods of cardamom
  12. oil to fry


  1. Take one pomfret fish. Wash nicely and pat dry.
  2. Apply turmeric powder and salt and keep aside.
  3. Meanwhile prepare the marinade by grinding coriander seeds, peppercorns, cloves, cardamom seeds, dry red chilli and vinegar. Make a paste. Marinade fish in this marination for minimum of half an hour to an hour.
  4. Now in a bowl take suji and rice flour. Add a bit of salt. Cover the fish in this dry mixture nicely from both sides. Heat oil in a wok. Fry this fish in the wok for 3 minutes on each side.
  5. Serve it hot with tartar sauce as a dip or with lemon juice on top.
