ABOUT Radish and Curd Chutney (Mullani Perugu pacchadi) RECIPE

A yummy chutney spiced with the sharpness of onions, nuttiness of the dal and laced with the richness of curd. A wonderful medley of ingredients blended beautifully to be savored with hot rice

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 Radish (muli) medium sized
  2. 1 onion medium sized
  3. 1 cup curd (unsweetened, unflavoured yogurt)
  4. 2-3 green chillies
  5. For Seasoning -
  6. ½ teaspoon black gram dal (urad dal)
  7. 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  8. 1 pinch turmeric powder
  9. 1-2 sprigs of coriander leaves
  10. 1 Teaspoon oil
  11. A pinch of asafoetida (hing)

Instructions

  1. Grate radish and keep aside. Chop onion and green chillies to fine pieces and keep aside. Heat a small pan. Add oil. When it is warm, add urad dal and mustard seeds. Saute well.
  2. Add turmeric powder, and hing. Mix well. Add chopped onion, green chillies and saute for a minute. Put off the heat.
  3. Let this cool. Add curd to the above mix and garnish with coriander leaves.
  4. Savor this tasty chutney with hot rice
