ABOUT Whole Fish Masala (Slow Cooked) RECIPE

Whole Fish slow cooked in layers of fried masalas. Succulent and perfect side dish.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Whole Mackerel Fish - 2 Large fish (use any fish of your choice)
  2. lemon juice - 1 tbsp
  3. Soya Sauce - 1 tbsp
  4. Chilly flakes /powder - 1 tsp
  5. Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Oil - 2 tbsp
  8. Tomato - 1 small sliced into round shape for topping
  9. Onion - 1 medium chopped finely
  10. Curry leaves a sprig
  11. ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  12. Green Chillies - 2 chopped finely
  13. Tomato - 1 small chopped finely
  14. Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  15. Black Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
  16. Cumin powder - 1 tsp
  17. Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
  18. Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
  19. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Take the whole fish and make a slash on both sides. Now add the lemon juice, Soya sauce, salt, chilly flakes and turmeric over the fish and rub nicely.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the fish on both sides for 5 mins. Take out and keep aside.
  3. In the same oil add the curry leaves, onions and cook till soft.
  4. Add in ginger garlic paste, chillies and fry for a min.
  5. Add in all the spice powders and mix well. Add in tomatoes, salt and cook till the tomatoes turns mushy.
  6. Now lay some tomato slices over the masala and lay the fish over it. Again lay some masala over the fish and top it with Tomato slices.
  7. Simmer the heat and cover the pan with lid and let it slow cook for around 15 mins.
  8. Take off the flame and serve.
