Dahi vada is a famous and lip-smacking dish of India. Totally mouthwatering.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Moong dal 2 cup
  2. Urad dal 1 cup
  3. Channa dal 1 cup
  4. Water 2 or 3 glass
  5. Green chilli 7 to 8 crushed
  6. Ginger 1 piece crushed
  7. Garlic 9 to 10 minced
  8. Chopped coriander leaves 2 tbs
  9. Fresh chopped mint leaves 1 cup
  10. Hing 1/4 tsp
  11. Eno fruit salt 2 pinch full
  12. Salt 1 tsp or as your taste
  13. Ajwain 1 tsp
  14. Chilled Curd / dahi 700 gm
  15. Water 1 cup (for adding into dahi)
  16. Oil for deep fry
  17. For sprinkle :
  18. Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  19. Roasted Jeera Powder 1 tsp
  20. Salt to taste
  21. Some mint leaves
  22. Some chopped coriander leaves
  23. Chopped onions 1
  24. Spicy green chutney 1/2 cup
  25. Red sweet chutney 1/2 cup
  26. Bowl with 2 glass of water (for rest of dahi vadas)


  1. Mix all dal and wash it 3 to 4 times, then add 2 or 3 glass of water and soak it for 2 hours.
  2. After 2 hours drain the water from dal and grind it in mixie jar for making batter for vada.
  3. Add crushed garlic, green chilli and ginger into it and grind again.
  4. Make coarse batter without adding any water.
  5. Now take batter in a bowl add salt, hing, ajwain, coriander leaves and mint leaves.
  6. Mix well and keep aside for 20 minute.
  7. Take a kadai add oil and keep on flame.
  8. When oil is hot, reduce the flame to simmer. Add 2 pinch of eno into the mixture of dal wada and mix it well.
  9. Now make vadas in hot oil and make it little crispy and light golden in colour.
  10. Another side keep ready bowl with water for rest of vada for cool down.
  11. Now your vadas are ready for dip into the water.
  12. Now take out vadas and leave into the water for 5 minute.
  13. Now take out each vada and little squeeze them and keep in serving plate.
  14. Now take chilled dahi in a bowl and blend it.
  15. Add some water if needed, approx 1 cup.
  16. Now take a plate keep 5 to 6 vadas at a time and pour dahi on it.
  17. Now sprinkle some salt,red chilli powder, roasted jeera powder.
  18. Now sprinkle some green chutney and sweet red chutney. Now add some chopped onions and coriander leaves.
  19. Garnish with mint leaves your dahi vada.
  20. Dahi vada is ready to serve.
  21. Serve chilled
