ABOUT Mor kozhambu RECIPE

A delicious, healthy, perfect summer recipe from the state of Tamil Nadu. A simple satvic recipe which is tangy and quite flavorful. You can add different vegetables of your choice to make it more nutritious.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Buttermilk 2 cups (1 cup curd and 1 cup water)
  2. Lady's finger, 1 cup, chopped
  3. Raw banana, 1 cup,chopped
  4. Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon
  5. To be ground-
  6. Raw rice 1 tablespoon
  7. Toor daal 1 tablespoon
  8. Coriander seeds 2 tablespoon
  9. Ginger 1/2 inch
  10. Green chilies 2
  11. Coconut 1/4 cup
  12. For tempering
  13. Mustard seeds 1 tablespoon
  14. Dried red chillies 2
  15. Asafoetida 1/2 teaspoon
  16. Curry leaves 1 spring
  17. oil

Instructions

  1. Stir fry the ladies finger and raw banana, keep them aside.
  2. To a Kadai add little oil, to that add the ground mixture, turmeric powder and cook it with little water till the rice and daal are cooked, takes about five minutes.
  3. Add the butter milk, salt and whisk it till its is properly mixed.
  4. Add the fried lady's finger and raw bananas.
  5. In another pan add oil, to that add mustard seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves and dried red chillies.
  6. When the butter milk starts to froth up from the edges of the pan add the tempering and turn off the flame.
  7. Give it nice mix and cover for 5 minutes before serving with white rice.
