Sarson ka saag

Ingredients to make Sarson ka saag

  • mustard greens 750 grams (sarson ka saag)
  • spinach 250 grams
  • red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • butter 60 grams
  • 1 tsp ginger (finely chopped)
  • water 1 cup
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp maize flour(makki ka atta)

How to make Sarson ka saag

  1. Wash and clean mustard greens and spinach very well and finely chop them
  2. In a pan, add water and bring it to boil. Add the greens, chilli powder, maize flour and half finely chopped ginger. Stir well and cook until done, about 30-40 mins, alternately you can pressure cook it.Let cool and grind coarsely in a blender.
  3. In another wok, heat butter; add sliced onions and the remaining ginger and saute for 2 mins. Add the greens and stir well
  4. Serve hot, garnished with butter

My Tip:

I like to add tonnes of butter to my sarson ka saag. Makes it even more delicious

generally bathua is added instead of spinach in sarson ka saag, spinach spoils the taste....
