Chicken cooked with lots of onions and yogurt. Aromatic sweet and sour curry.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Onions 3 big, one finely and two roughly chopped
  2. Chicken 500 gms
  3. Beaten yogurt 1 cup
  4. Tomato puree 1 cup
  5. Garlic paste 2 teaspoon
  6. Ginger paste 2 teaspoon
  7. Cumin powder 1 teaspoon
  8. Coriander powder 1 teaspoon
  9. Garam masala 1 teaspoon
  10. Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon
  11. Kashmiri mirch powder 1 teaspoon
  12. ghee 1/2 cup
  13. Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
  14. salt as per taste
  15. Chopped tomato half cup
  16. Fresh coriander for garnishing


  1. Marinate the chicken with ginger paste, garlic paste 1 teaspoon each and red chilli powder.
  2. Add turmeric powder and kashmiri mirch powder in yogurt and beat with a spoon properly.
  3. Heat a heavy bottom pan and add ghee.
  4. When the ghee melts add remaining ginger garlic paste and finely chopped onions.
  5. When the onions are brown in color add tomato puree, cumin and coriander powder.
  6. Fry tomatoes until releases oil and add yogurt and salt as per taste.
  7. Keep frying on high heat until the yogurt releases its water and now add the chicken.
  8. Add one roughly chopped onion, 2 cups water and simmer on low heat for 20 min.
  9. Add finely chopped tomatoes and roughy chopped onions now.
  10. Add garam masala and stir fry on high heat until the onions are translucent.
  11. Garnish with finely chopped coriander and serve with roti, naan, jeera rice etc.
