Yes,presenting my latest kitchen experiment onion ladoo made using very versatile ingredient khoya.A truly delectable match. Make it once and this is definitely going to entice your tastebuds!

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1/2 cup white Onion
  2. 1 1/2 cup grated or crumbled Khoya (Mava)
  3. 1/2 cup Sugar
  4. 2 tbsp ghee
  5. 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
  6. Few saffron strands for garnishing


  1. Take the onion and rinse it quickly in a basin of water. Washing the onion in water will remove the raw pungent flavor. I have used white onion as its less pungent flavor.
  2. In a vessel add washed onion and 1 cup water, cover and cook for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes starin it.
  3. Again add water and cook for 5 minutes and starin it again. Cool for sometime.
  4. Now grind the onion pulp to a very smooth paste.
  5. In a separate pan put ghee and add onion puree.
  6. Saute it on low flame for 10 minutes.
  7. Now add grated Khoya, sugar, cardamom powder and heat till it gets little liquidy,
  8. Cook this till leaves the sides on low flame and form into a soft dough.
  9. Cool this down a little.
  10. Greas your hand and take a small portion from this dough, and roll into a ladoo and arrange in a plate.
  11. Garnish with saffron strands. Onion ladoo is ready .
  12. Cool completely and store in a airtight container, Refrigerate and use within 3 to 4 days.
