Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Boiled medium size potato 8
  2. Onion medium size 4
  3. Ginger 1.5 inch
  4. Garlic paste 1 tablespoon
  5. Mustard oil 4 tablespoons
  6. Refine oil 2 tablespoons
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Turmeric powder 2-3 teaspoons
  9. Sabut Red Chilli 7-8
  10. Bay Leaves 1
  11. Hing a pinch
  12. Sabut cumin 1 teaspoon
  13. Cumin powder 1 teaspoon
  14. Coriander powder 1 teaspoon
  15. Black pepper powder 1 teaspoon
  16. Garam masala powder 2 teaspoons
  17. Black cardamom 1
  18. Ghee 1 teaspoon
  19. Kashmiri mirch powder 1 teaspoon
  20. Coriander leaves


  1. Boil potato - Cut in two pieces.
  2. Heat a wok, put mustard oil, add hing, bay leaves, black cardamom, cumin.
  3. Now put onions and saute in full flame.
  4. After 3-4 minutes when onion turns into pinkish then add turmeric powder, ginger, garlic, coriander powder, black pepper, cumin powder, salt and mix them well.
  5. Now cover with the lid.
  6. Open the lid after 3-4 minutes.
  7. Now add potatoes and sabut red chilli paste, ghee and refined oil in it and mix well.
  8. Now add 2-3 cups of water and leave them in full flame.
  9. Now cover the lid and turn the flame on low for 4-5 minutes.
  10. Now add garam masala powder and kashmiri mirch powder and garnish with coriander leaves.
  11. Ready to eat with rice or paratha.
  12. For Saboot red Chilli paste : put the sabut red chilli in warm water for 2-3 minutes. Now let them cool down, then grind them in a mixer. ( This red Chilli paste will give the original spicy flavor - for spicy lovers)
