ABOUT Vermicelli Upma RECIPE

Upma is one of the regular breakfast in all Indian homes but vermicelli upma is my favorite dish.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1Cup thick vermicelli ( Roasted)
  2. 2 Medium sized chopped onion
  3. 1 medium sized chopped tomato
  4. 2 green chillies chopped
  5. 1 tablespoon roasted peanuts
  6. 2 tablespoon green peas
  7. 1 teaspoon bengal gram
  8. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  9. 1/2 tea spoon cumin seeds
  10. 1/2 tea spoon fennel seeds
  11. 1/2 tea spoon garam masala
  12. 6-7curry leaves
  13. 2 tea spoon sugar
  14. 1 tea spoon chilli sauce
  15. 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
  16. 2 tablespoon oil
  17. Salt to taste


  1. Heat oil in the kadhai.
  2. Add cumin seeds, musturd seeds,fennel seeds and bengal gram. Let them crackle few seconds.
  3. Add curry leaves, green chillies and onion and saute for 2-3 minutes
  4. Add chopped tomato, green peas,garam masala and salt and cover it few minutes.
  5. Open and add the roasted vermicelli, sugar and one cup of water, mix well
  6. Cover the kadhai and cook it for 5-6 minutes,or until the vermicelli is cooked and water is dried up.
  7. Add roasted peanuts, chilli sauce, tomato ketchup and switch off the flame.
  8. Vermicelli upma is ready. Garnish with onion rings and serve hot immediately .
