Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For Outer Part of Litti:-
  2. 2 cups wheat flour
  3. 2 tbsp pure ghee
  4. 1/2 tsp carom seeds
  5. 3/4 tsp salt
  6. For filling:-
  7. 1 bowl sattu/ roasted gram flour
  8. 4-5 garlic cloves grated
  9. 1 onion chopped
  10. 1" ginger grated
  11. 2-3 green chillies chopped
  12. coriander leaves chopped
  13. 1/2 tsp onion seeds/kalonji
  14. 1 tsp carom seeds
  15. 1 tbsp lemon juice
  16. 2 tsp any pickle masala(optional)
  17. Salt to taste
  18. For Chokha:-
  19. 2 boiled potatoes
  20. 1 big brinjal/aubergine
  21. 3 Tomatoes
  22. 4-5 garlic cloves
  23. 2-3 green chillies chopped
  24. 1" ginger grated
  25. 2 onions chopped
  26. coriander leaves chopped
  27. 2 tsp Mustard Oil
  28. Salt to taste


  1. Sieve the flour in big bowl and add salt, carom seeds and oil.
  2. Knead the dough properly with water.Dough should be soft .
  3. Cover with a wet cloth and keep aside.Dough is ready.
  4. Take sattu in a mixing bowl, add in all the spices and grated ginger, green chillies, coriander, lemon juice, and mix well.
  5. If it seems too dry, add a tsp of oil and few drops of water to it.
  6. The texture should be crumbly, Keep aside.
  7. Now take medium-sized dough. Make pedas from each. Simply roll it like a small chapati, but don't apply any extra flour to it.
  8. Place 2 tsp filling on it and closed it and shape it round like a ball.
  9. Litti is ready for baking.Now make 10-12 balls.
  10. Preheat the oven at 200 degrees.Place all the balls on a baking dish and bake them for 30-40 minutes.
  11. Flip the side half way through, you may have to do it 2-3 times in between to get the even cooking done.
  12. If you don't want to bake also deep fry it.
  13. Boil the potatoes remove the skin and keep aside.
  14. Roast brinjal and tomatoes on the gas stove on medium flame from both the sides untill it becomes soft.
  15. Peel off the burnt skin of the brinjal.Mash boiled potatoes, brinjal along with garlic and tomatoes together.
  16. Add finely chopped onion, coriander leaves, grated ginger, salt, green chillies and mustard oil.
  17. Mix all the ingredients with hands properly.Chokha is ready.
  18. Put Chokha in a bowl, dip hot Litti in melted Ghee and serve with green coriander chutney.
