Sounds interesting na. As we all know Bittergourd is a natural blood purifier and has numerous health benefits. Try out this wonderful full recipe of stuffed bittergourd. I have used karela peels in gravy to maximise the benefits of eating karela. It totally elevates the flavour of the gravy. Incredibly easy and simple and tasteful.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Chicken mince 150 gms
  2. Karela /bittergourd 3 medium size
  3. Karela Peels of 3 karelas
  4. Onions chopped 3
  5. Tomatoes grated 3
  6. Ginger garlic chilli paste 3 tbsp
  7. Red chilli powder 2 tsp
  8. Turmeric powder 2 tsp
  9. Dhania powder 2 tsp
  10. Garam masala powder 1 tsp
  11. Jeera powder 2 tsp
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Whole cumin 1tsp
  14. Oil 3-4 spoons

Instructions

  1. Clean wash and pat dry chicken mince
  2. Peel, wash and deseed karela.
  3. Slit karela from the centre, and rub with salt inside and outside too
  4. Keep it aside for 15 minutes
  5. After 15 minutes wash karela under running water
  6. Keep it aside.
  7. In a non stick pan put oil
  8. Add 1 tsp whole cumin
  9. Add 1 tsp ginger garlic chilli paste
  10. After it splutters add chicken mince
  11. Saute it nicely
  12. Now add 1tsp salt, 1/2 tsp Turmeric, and 1 tsp red chilli powder
  13. Now add 1 tsp dhania powder, 1 tsp jeera powder Nd add 3 chopped onions.
  14. After sauteing it nicely, cover and cook for 10 minutes.
  15. Remove this in a bowl
  16. Now fill this mixture in karela and tie this with white thread
  17. Now shallow fry these stuffed and tied karelas.
  18. Take this out and keep aside
  19. Now in the same pan add karela peels and saute it nicely on slow flame
  20. To this add 1 tsp ginger garlic chilli paste
  21. Add grated tomatoes to it
  22. Add salt, Turmeric and dhania powder
  23. Add red chilli powder
  24. When everything is Incorporated nicely add remaining chicken mince which is left after stuffing karelas
  25. Bhuno it for a while and add half a glass of water
  26. To this add stuffed karelas Nd cook them on slow flame for 5 minutes
  27. Cook till water in it dries up and karelas become soft
  28. Take this on serving plate Nd garnish with chopped coriander leaves
  29. Garnish with lachha pyaz/onion rings.
