ABOUT Yam fry Masala RECIPE

Family favourite curry Yam/Suran/Jimikand as its called,in this typical north style masala curry is done with paranthas .Basic masalas in onion tomato ginger base is Yummy.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 250 grams Yam/Suran
  2. 2big tomato grated
  3. 1 Onion Chopped fine
  4. Half cup green peas used frozen
  5. 1tspn ginger garlic paste
  6. 1 tspn ghee
  7. Salt to taste
  8. 1 tspn red chilli powder
  9. 1 tspn turmeric powder
  10. 1 tspn cummin seeds
  11. 1 /2 garam masala home ground
  12. Corriander to garnish
  13. 2 tblspn oil to fry


  1. Clean wash and cut pieces of Yam,apply some salt keep aside
  2. Grate tomatoes ,paste the garlic ginger and chop onion fine
  3. Soak some friend peas in a small bowl, too
  4. Take oil in a pan to fry the cut Yam/Suran pieces
  5. Now saute onions in pure ghee in cooker add the ginger garlic paste
  6. Add green peas salt and turmeric
  7. Add tomatoes grated with other spices mentioned
  8. Add fried Yam/Suran and half glass water
  9. Pressure cook 5 minutes
  10. Serve hot garnish with Corriander
