ABOUT Peas Mushroom Curry RECIPE

I used to prepare matar mushroom frequently but never managed to draft its recipe. So this time thought to share this super delicious as well as healthy, yes you read right, it's healthy too. I never use cream in my curries to make it creamy but add almonds paste instead. Which makes my curry creamy as well as healthy at the same time.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 250 gms button mushrooms, sliced
  2. 2 cup green peas
  3. 12-15 almonds , soaked in hot water for 30 minutes
  4. 2 big tomatoes , roughly chopped
  5. 3 medium big onions, finely chopped
  6. 3-4 green chilies, finely chopped
  7. 1.5 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  8. 1 tbsp coriander powder
  9. 1 tbsp Kashmiri red chili powder
  10. 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  11. 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  12. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  13. 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  14. 1 tbsp kasuri methi, crushed
  15. Salt to taste
  16. Oil 2 tbsp
  17. For tempering:
  18. 4 green cardamom
  19. 2 cloves
  20. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  21. 1 inch cinnamon stick
  22. 1/4 tsp Hing

Instructions

  1. Blend almond and tomatoes to form smooth paste. Keep it aside
  2. Now heat oil in a wok, add all tempering spices and saute until aromatic. Add chopped onions and chilies, saute until onions are light brown.  Add ginger garlic paste and saute for 2 mins. Add ground puree with spice powders except garam masala and mix well
  3. Now saute mixture till it starts leaving oil. Add sliced mushrooms, green peas and salt.  Saute for 4-5 mins and add water as per gravy consistency desired. 
  4. Bring to boil. Cover and cook till mushrooms and peas are tender. Now add garam masala powder and mix well. Finally add kasuri methi and mix well.
  5. Delicious and healthy matar mushroom curry is ready to be served with roti/paratha/poori/naan or rice.
