Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. For bati
  2. 1 cup whole wheat flour
  3. 1/4 cup coarse whole wheat powder
  4. Salt as required
  5. 1/2 tsp dry coriander seeds (crush)
  6. 1/2 tsp Cumin
  7. 1 tbsp curd
  8. 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  9. a pinch of soda
  10. 4 tbsp ghee (recommended)
  11. Water as required
  12. For Dal
  13. 1/2 cup Arhal dal
  14. 3 tbsp oil
  15. 1/4 tsp cumin
  16. A pinch of asafoetida
  17. 1 piece onion (finely chopped)
  18. 1 piece tomato (finely chopped)
  19. 1 tsp chutney
  20. 1 tbsp ginger and green chilies
  21. 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  22. 2 tsp red chilies powder
  23. Salt as required
  24. Water as required
  25. 1 tbsp coriander
  26. 1 tsp Lemon juice
  27. For Chutney
  28. 25 peas whole garlic
  29. 1/4 tsp cumin
  30. 2 tsp red chilies powder
  31. Salt as required
  32. 2 tsp oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl add whole wheat flour, coarse whole wheat flour,salt, coriander seeds, cumin, curd, turmeric, soda, ghee mix these ingredients add well using your hand and mixture will turn crumby
  2. Add water and bind the stiff dough, divide dough into equal portions and make round shaped balls
  3. Add water in large bowl, add some salt and oil, after one boiling add bati and cook for 15 minutes
  4. remove the bati by water and take rest till cold it, take melted ghee in a small bowl, dip each bati in ghee
  5. for dal
  6. Rinse whole Arhal dal soak 10 minutes, Drain water and transfer to pressure cooker and add water, salt and turmeric and cook for 4 whistle, turn off flame
  7. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and allow them to crackle add asafoetida and chopped onion and sauté lightly brown add chopped tomato and sauté until it turns mushy, add chutney, turmeric powder, red chilies powder and mix well and sauté for few minutes
  8. add cooked dal mix well and cooks for few minutes
  9. add water and dal cook until it turns thick for few minutes
  10. add finely chopped coriander leaves and mix well turns off the flame, add lemon juice
  11. for chutney
  12. In a mixture grinder add all chutney’s ingredients and churn it
