This is a simple and tasty recipe for people of all ages. You can take serve with idly, idiyappam, sappathi, dosa.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 - medium-sized potato, boiled and peeled
  2. 1 - onion chopped finely
  3. 2 inches Ginger
  4. 3-4 green chilli
  5. 2 cups - Coconut Milk or fresh grated Coconut
  6. 3-4 - Curry leaves
  7. 1 tsp - Mustard Seeds
  8. 4tsp -  oil
  9. A pinch Turmeric powder
  10. Rosted gram or poppy seed(for thickness)

Instructions

  1. Chop the boiled and peeled potato into 2 inch cubes and keep aside.
  2. Heat 2 tbsp of oil in kadai and add mustard seeds.
  3. Add haldi, ginger, green chillies and curry leaves after the seeds splutter.
  4. Add finely chopped onions and fry until they turn brown and transparent.
  5. Meanwhile, grind the grated coconut with water to a smooth paste.You can omit this step if you are using coconut milk.
  6. Add half the coconut paste/coconut milk to the fried onions.Add salt; cover and boil for another 3-4 mins.
  7. Add the potato cubes and the remaining coconut paste/coconut milk. And add powdered Rosted gram or powdered poppy fried seed
  8. Add water if required and cook covered for 4-5 mins.Serve hot with rice or rotis,idly,Idiyappam.
