The tamil name is Manathakkali and Sported Lentil gave very good natural treatments of our body.The leaves give strength to muscles and improve vision.It is the best medicine for headache and skin infections.The highlight of  manathakkali uses is to reduce  urinary infections. Manathakkali keerai is the best medicine for constipation, stomach,mouth ulcer, cured by this, pragnent women,kids,and elders must take this daily.The sprouts have more Vitamin C, and B vitamins thiamine, niacin and riboflavin compared to the seeds. Enjoy eating this healthy recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Manathakali keerai – 3 cups
  2. Sporuted lentils -1 cup
  3. Shallots/ Small onions – 4, finely chopped
  4. Moong Dal – 1/4 cup
  5. Coconut, grated – 1/2 cup
  6. Sambar powder – 1 tsp
  7. Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
  8. Salt – As needed To Temper
  9. Oil- 2 tsp
  10. Musted -1/2 tsp
  11. Urad dal-1tsp
  12. Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Pressure cook dal with enough water for 3 whistles in medium flame. and add sported lentil add water if needed for 3 whistles
  2. Separate the leaves from the stalk, clean. Boil enough water to cook the leaves and add cleaned leaves to it. Let it get cooked. It takes a long time when compared to the other greens.
  3. Add salt to it. 
  4. When it is cooked, add turmeric. Boil for a minute. 
  5. Meanwhile, grind coconut with little water. 
  6. Add cooked dal, sported lentils,ground coconut. Mix well and bring to boil. 
  7. Temper in the oil,musturd, urad dal,cumin, onion and mix to the kootu. Onions should be golden in colour for best flavour.
