Fish and chips is a popular dish of Britain consisting of fried battered fish and hot potato chips

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. sunflower oil -2 cups for deep-frying
  2. 250 g white fish fillets skin off,
  3. 1 cup plain flour +4tablespoons for dusting
  4. 1 cup cold beer
  5. 2 heaped teaspoons baking powder
  6. Salt to taste
  7. 500 grams potatoes


  1. Mix flour,chilled beer,baking powder and salt in a bowl,whish it very well until well combined,keep in the fridge for 2hours
  2. Cut fish fillets,wrap it with kitchen towel for 30 minutes,
  3. Add salt and black pepper,mix it and keep it for 10minutes
  4. Remove the fish pieces from fridge
  5. Dust each fish fillet in a little of the extra flour, then dip into the batter and allow any excess to drip off
  6. Remove the fried fish fillets,keep on the absorbent paper
  7. Cut the potatoes into 1/2inch strip,boil the potatoes in salted water for 4 to 5 minutes, until retaining their shape, then drain and steam dry.
  8. Deep Fry them until golden and crispy
  9. Serve Fish n Chips with tartar sauce,tomato sauce or malt vinegar
