ABOUT Achari Jhinga.... RECIPE

A yummy side dish that can be served with naans or parathas. Made with achari masala as one of the main ingredients, it is for sure a delectable dish. Treat your families and your guests to this super awesome dish on important occasions and get togethers. Happy Celebrations !!!!!!!!!

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Medium sized prawns 1 kg
  2. Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  3. Salt 1 tsp
  4. Onions chopped 2
  5. Tomato pulp 1/2 cup
  6. RED CHILLI POWDER 1 TBSP
  7. Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  8. Achari masala homemade 1 tbsp
  9. Hung curd 3 tbsp (optional)
  10. Coriander leaves chopped 1/4th cup
  11. FOR THE ACHARI MASALA ;
  12. Coriander seeds 1 tbsp
  13. cumin seeds 1 tbsp
  14. Black mustard seeds 1 tbsp
  15. Fenugreek seeds 1 tsp
  16. Asafoetida 1/8th tsp

Instructions

  1. Clean the prawns and devien them.
  2. Add salt and ginger garlic paste to them.
  3. Mix well and set aside.
  4. Meanwhile blanch 2 medium sized tomatoes for 8-10 minutes.
  5. Remove their skin and mash well.
  6. To a pan with oil, saute the onions first until translucent.
  7. Now add the spices and saute them as well.
  8. Add the lightly beaten hung curd and mix well.
  9. Finally add the tomato pulp and the prawns.
  10. Saute these on a high flame until 5 minutes.
  11. Now cover and simmer for the next 20 minutes.
  12. Do not over cook them.
  13. Check for salt at this stage and add some if required.
  14. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with naans.
