ABOUT Flattened Rice Mixture (Poha Mixture)... RECIPE

An all time favourite tea-time snack or a munchie of us Indians. It is made in many ways but the basic ingredients are almost the same. Easily made at home and can also be stored for a long time. This is my way of making it and i hope it is much similar to yours. Lovely colour snack that is enjoyed by everyone alike.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Flattened rice or poha 4 cups
  2. Groundnuts 1 cup
  3. Split bengal gram or phula chana 1/2 cup
  4. Curry leaves 12
  5. Dry red chillies 3
  6. Turmeric 1 tsp
  7. Red chilli flakes 1 tbsp
  8. Asafoetida 1/8th tsp
  9. Oil 1 tsp
  10. Salt 1 tsp
  11. Oil to fry 3 cups


  1. Heat oil and deep fry the poha first.
  2. Drain it well on a kitchen towel or an absorbent paper.
  3. In the same oil, fry the other ingredients one by one.
  4. Combine all of these in a bowl.
  5. Add asafoetida, turmeric and red chilli flakes too shallow fried in a teaspoon of oil.
  6. Toss until mixed well.
  7. Squeeze some lemon juice before serving if desired.
  8. Store it in airtight containers and use as desired.
