Sooji Dhokla with green chutney

Ingredients to make Sooji Dhokla with green chutney

  • sooji/Rava - 1 1/2 cups
  • Fresh curd - 1 1/2 cups
  • water as required (for batter consistency)
  • green chillies - 2 chopped
  • ginger - 1 inch chopped
  • chana dal - 4 tbsp
  • cashew broken - 2 tbsps
  • salt to taste
  • lemon - 1
  • coriander - few springs
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • For temoering:
  • oil - 1 tsp
  • mustard seeds-1 tsp
  • Asfotedia - 1 pinch
  • curry leaves few
  • For the green chutney:
  • dessicated coconut - 1/4 cup
  • coriander - 1 bunch/ (200 GMS)
  • Green chilie - 1
  • ginger - 1/2 inch
  • salt to taste
  • sugar - 1/2 tsp
  • water little to grind
  • For tempering :
  • oil - 1 tsp
  • mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Asfotedia - 1 pinch
  • curry leaves few

How to make Sooji Dhokla with green chutney

  1. Mix the sooji with curd, green chillies, ginger, water and salt. Leave it aside for Atleast 1/2 an hour.
  2. Soak the dal and cashew in 2 cups of water
  3. After 1/2 an hour add water for required batter consistency. Add the soaked dal and cashew. Give a nice mix
  4. Keep dhokla stand ready with water boiling. Or can even make it in rice cooker.( Place a thick ring in the rice cooker. Pour water half way to ring, heat it and then keep the dhokla plate.Cover and cook)
  5. Prepare the dhokla plate / stand by greasing with a spoon of oil
  6. Add baking soda to the batter and give a mix gently. Pour the mixture on the plate
  7. Keep the plate to cook for around 5 minutes
  8. Make the chutney by Grinding all ingredients mentioned with some water
  9. Temper the dhoklas with oil, mustard seeds, asfotedia and curry leaves.
  10. Temper the chutney the same way
  11. Serve hot dhokla with delicious dhokla chutney
