Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For the tempering-
  2. Grated coconut
  3. 1/2 cup or little more water
  4. 2 tbsp sugar
  5. Pinch of hing
  6. 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  7. 4 Green chilli slit and cut into halves
  8. 8- 10 curry leaves
  9. For the batter-
  10. oil 1tsp for greasing
  11. water 1/2 cup
  12. 1 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  13. salt according to taste
  14. 1/2 cup curd
  15. 1tsp Eno fruit salt
  16. besan 1cup
  17. Chopped coriander


  1. Mix all ingredients mention in batter except oil. Grease plate or tin.I used cupcake moulds for this. Pour batter in moulds. Take 2 or 3 cups water in steamer/kadai/cooker at bottom and heat over medium flame. Make sure that steamer is hot before placing the plates/ moulds(filled with batter) in it. Steam till a knife or toothpick comes out clean. Cool down and demould.
  2. For tempering- Heat oil then add mustard seeds and hing. Add green chillies, curry leaves, water and sugar. Let boil then pour it on your demolded khaman cupcake.. Garnish with grated coconut and freshly chopped coriander leaves.
