ABOUT Tomato kandha poha RECIPE

Poha is a very famous dish in the region of Northern Karnataka, Maharashtra and parts of Madhya prasesh. It can be eaten at any time during the day. Usually people have this for breakfast or in the evening with a hot cup of Tea.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 glass thick poha
  2. 1 big onion
  3. 1 tomato
  4. 1 tea spoon cumin seeds
  5. 1 tea spoon mustard seeds
  6. 2table spoon ground nuts
  7. 1/2 table spoon turmeric powder
  8. 1 table spoon phutana( fried chana)
  9. 3-4 green chillies
  10. Curry leaves
  11. 2table spoon oil
  12. 1/4 tea spoon sugar
  13. Coriander leaves
  14. 1/2 lemon


  1. Was hand soak poha in water
  2. Chop onion
  3. Chop tomato
  4. Chop greenchillies
  5. In a pan heat oil
  6. Once heated add ground nuts and fry
  7. Add cummin seeds
  8. Mustard seeds
  9. Add phutana
  10. Add curry leaves
  11. Add chopped onion and saute for a minute
  12. Add chopped tomato,
  13. Cook till tomato gets soft
  14. Add turmeric powder
  15. Add salt
  16. Add sugar
  17. Add lemon juice
  18. Coriander leaves
  19. Check of the poha is soaked then drain the water
  20. Add it to the cooked mixture
  21. Mix well
  22. Serve with Mixture( Sev)
