A spicy, tasty and easy recipe of rasam that can be served with just some hot rice and papad on the side.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Tamarind lemon size
  2. Tomato 3
  3. Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  4. Pepper jeera powder 3 tsp
  5. Crushed garlic 5-6
  6. Green chilli 1
  7. Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
  8. Urad dal 1/2 tsp
  9. Curry leaves 1 string
  10. Coriander leaves as required
  11. Salt as required
  12. Oil as required


  1. Soak tamarind for 30 min.
  2. In bowl add tamarind water,tomato juice or chopped tomato,salt,coriander leaves
  3. In pan heat oil add mustard seeds,urad dal,Curry leaves,onion,green chilli, crushed garlic cook for 5 min.
  4. Add turmeric powder, pepper jeera powder.mix well.now add tamarind tomato water.cook for 10-15 min.dont allow them to boil.
