Ingredients to make Rasam Sadham (Rasam Rice)

  • Raw rice 2 cups
  • Thur dal 4 table spoons
  • Finely chopped tomatoes 2
  • garlic pods 4
  • Rasam Powder 3 tea spoons
  • turmeric powder
  • Thin tamarind extract 1 cup
  • salt to taste
  • Ghee 2 tea spoons
  • coriander leaves

How to make Rasam Sadham (Rasam Rice)

  1. Wash the rice and dal and transfer to the cooker vessel.
  2. Add all the ingredients mentioned under ingredients to the rice.(except ghee and coriander leaves)
  3. Pour in 6 cups of water.
  4. Pressure cook to 6 whistles and switch off.
  5. Once the steam is released, mash well with a ladle. Do the seasoning with mustard and cumin seeds. Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot with any vegetable stir fry.

My Tip:

This rice tastes very yummy when it is cooked well and mashed like a porridge.
