Daliya Biryani

Ingredients to make Daliya Biryani

  • 1.5 cup daliya
  • 1/2 cup soya granules
  • 1 potato and 1 carrot cubed
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 1.5 to 2 tsp Biryani masala(adjust)
  • 2 to 3 tbsp oil or ghee
  • 2.5 cups water
  • Handful mint leaves
  • 1/4 cup peas
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1-2 green chillies
  • 1tbsp lime juice (optional)
  • Dry spices: 1 bay leaf
  • 4 GREEN cardamom
  • 2 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • 5-6 cloves
  • 1/2 tsp Shahi jeera
  • 4-5 peppercorns
  • Fried bell peppers for garnish

How to make Daliya Biryani

  1. Soak Dalia for 1 hour. Drain excess water. Boil soya granules with pinch of salt. Drain and squeeze soya. Keep it aside
  2. Add oil/ ghee in a pan. Add dry spices, saute until aromatic. Add onions, saute until translucent
  3. Add ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw aroma goes away
  4. Add all veggies, saute for 2 minutes.add mint leaves, biryani masala. Saute for 2 more minutes. Add water, salt and lemon juice. Stir well
  5. When water begins to boil, add Dalia and soya. Cover and cook on low heat. Do stir in between so that Dalia does not stick to bottom. Cook until water completely evaporates.
  6. Garnish and Serve hot with Raita
