Ingredients to make Sagoo manda(savoury tapioca dumplings)

  • Sagoo/tapioca 1/2cup
  • Chopped veggies 1/2cup
  • ginger garlic paste /chopped 1tbsp
  • Green chilli chopped 2no
  • turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder 1tsp
  • Garam masala powder 1tsp (optional)
  • oil 2tsp
  • salt as per taste

How to make Sagoo manda(savoury tapioca dumplings)

  1. Soak sagoo/tapioca for 2hours,strain.
  2. Grind without adding water to a coarse paste.
  3. Add salt, knead well. Cover.
  4. Heat oil in a pan, add ginger garlic paste, chopped veggies(like cabbage, carrot, corn, green peas etc), all spices and salt.
  5. Mix well and stir for 2mins. Don't overcook. Veggies should be crunchy. Switch off. Cool a bit.
  6. Take a small portion of the dough, flatten with palm, put 1tsp of stuffing.
  7. Now seal nicely and carefully shaping it like a round ball.
  8. Repeat for all and steam in a steamer or idli maker for 5mins. Serve with any chutney.

My Tip:

Sagoo dough is very sticky so grease your hands with oil or you can use only water also to make round shapes.
